Thanks to Jim and Mary Frinell our COFFEE HOUR hosts (July 20).  I you wish to participate in this ministry, please sign-up in the Narthex.

FATHER ROBERT RETURNS!  July 27 will be Fr. Robert's first Sunday in the pulpit following his 4 month sabbatical. The 10:15 a.m. service that morning will be celebrated out-of-doors on the OES Middle School Terrace.  Following that Eucharist, there will be a catered picnic to officially welcome Fr. Robert home and honor Fr. Jeff's leadership during the sabbatical.

THE PARISH PHOTO DIRECTORIES HAVE ARRIVED.  They are available in the narthex in alphabetical order for each family.  Extra copies will be available in the office.  Kudos to Sharon Walker for spearheading the effort to complete this project.

"FILM FEST" series on creativity continues on Thursdays  in the Ladehoff Room from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon, through August 29th.  Instructor Robin Haglund, a long-time student of film brings eclectic scholarship and insight to his classes.  Each week a different artist's life and work will be examined through movies followed by lively discussion.

JUBILEE ACT PASSES SENATE FOREIGN RELATIONS COMMITTEE!  What's next?  It must now be considered and passed by the full Senate before it can go to the President and be signed into law.  Please be ready to call, email and write a letter to the editor in support of this important legislation and cancel the debt!  For more information on the Jubilee Act or Jubilee USA's new campaigns, go to www.jubileeusa.org.

STANDING COMMITTEE MEETS WITH NATIONAL CHURCH CONSULTANT to kick off the planning process for the election of a diocesan bishop at convention 2009.  Standing Committee members spent a full day with the consultant in order to gain a thorough knowledge of the search and transition process. Through the summer, the committee will draft a theological statement, finalize a timeline, review the Constitution and Canons for procedural guidelines, draft a proposed budget and set up qualifications and a selection process for members of a Search Committee and a Transition Committee.  For past and current communication from the Standing committee visit www.diocese-oregon.org/prayer_transition.htm.  For broader news about the transition go to www.diocese-oregon.org/index.shtml and scroll about halfway down the page to "Our Transition."

THE RT. REV. BRIAN THOM, former Curate at St. John's will be installed as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Idaho on Saturday October 11, 2008, 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Rockies.  Retired rector Roy Coulter is interested in arranging a van (or bus) and an overnight stay in Boise.  Call the Parish Office if you might be willing to participate in that plan.
